Nourishing Your Interest in Aromathearpy

Our certificate course is designed to enhance one’s understanding of the therapeutic properties of essential oils. Upon completion of the course you will be able to confidently use 25 essential oils safely and effectively together with base oils to care for your family and friends.

The course is for those who have a general interest in aromatherapy as well as for those who would like a basic foundation of essential oil knowledge before committing to a more in-depth diploma course training.

Study Mode

The course comprises theory and hands-on practice sessions offered in either English or Chinese.

Course Content and Learning Hours

The course comprises 2 modules, 16 sessions (each 2.5 hours), totaling 40 hours.

Essential Oil Pharmacy

  1. History of aromatherapy and its modern development,
  2. What is an essential oil and how it is produced,
  3. Safety guidelines,
  4. Contra-indications,
  5. Basic chemical families of essential oils,
  6. Skin and essential oils,
  7. Introduction of 25 essential oils and 4 carrier oils,
  8. Introduction to hydrosols and various base products
  9. Blending skills and practical blending exercises


Practical Massage

  1. Basic concepts on Massage
  2. Introduction to basic strokes and body parts
  3. Introduction on a simple routine for
    (I) neck & shoulder massage
    (II) back massage
    (III) limbs massage


Students are required to complete one assignment and a written examination.


No exemption will be granted for the subject Essential Oil Pharmacy while exemption of other subjects can be granted to students with proof of previous training in that subject.

Student Kit (which includes all the essential oils and base oils taught in class) will be available at your own choice.

Renate Leung, APDHA**, IFPA

Renate a Swiss national has moved to Hong Kong over 20 years ago. In 2001 she graduated from APA and has since given aromatherapy treatments in her home practice. Passionate in holistic health, she has continued her studies in Kinesiology, Reiki, EFT, NLP among others.

Her speciality is in “family aromatherapy”. She has two adult children, they have grown up being treated with essential Oils for every challenge they encountered. She has been teaching many mothers, to do the same.
Renate has a background in hotel management and uses her aromatherapy knowledge to consult in spa management.

Chung Wai Sing, Henry APDHA**

Henry graduated from the Diploma Course in Holistic Aromatherapy in Asia-Pacific Aromatherapy (APA) in 2009.

Currently, he is a freelance Holistic Aromatherapist dedicated to aromatherapy education and natural living. He has been teaching in APA introductory course since 2011.

Henry also holds a Diploma in Beauty Specialists and Diploma in Facial Electrical Treatment with ITEC in 2007 and 2008 respectively. He integrates his beauty perspective into teaching aromatherapy, providing a comprehensive yet holistic approach to learning this healing art.

Cherry Lo, APDHA

Cherry graduated from Asia-Pacific Aromatherapy in 2003 and subsequently joined the company full-time until 2009.

As a member of the APA staff team, Cherry was able to work closely with Christine Saunders and our Massage Tutor, Mr. Roy Chan, as a teaching assistant.

During her tenure at APA, Cherry was given the opportunity to attend all courses run by the school including those conducted by overseas practitioners that enabled her to gain a broad knowledge in holistic therapies.

Besides teaching, Cherry also worked as an aromatherapist and soon became one of the most popular therapists in APA providing various kinds of holistic treatments to clients.

With her practical experience in providing treatment and extensive in-class training, Cherry is now one of the key members of APA’s teaching team.

Massage, Holistic Views

Wynnie Ng, APDHA

Wynnie Ng graduated from Asia-Pacific Aromatherapy as a holistic aromatherapist and has been a massage therapist of APA since 2006.

She is also a certified ISBT Bowen Therapist and Body Talk Access practitioner, and trained in Tui-Na Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Indian Head Massage.

Wynnie’s work is not just limited to the physical body. She also works on balancing our energy bodies. Her passion is to assist people in restoring the wellness of their physical body as well as their energy bodies.
